CEO & Founder of Música Libre

Karen Sandoval is a singer, classical guitarist, composer, producer, and creator of the Música Libre method. Born in Cali, Colombia, she developed this unique learning approach inspired by the love she felt for her children during the COVID-19 lockdown in Colombia. Her method combines Spanish language learning, Latin American culture, and music for children in a fun and meaningful way. With strong artistic training and passion, Karen leads Música Libre with vision and creativity in bilingual education.

Karen began breaking glass ceilings by becoming the first woman to graduate from the Audio and Sound School (EAS) in Medellin, Colombia 2007. She also studied music and classic guitar at the Departmental Institute of Fine Arts in Colombia. Afterwards, for six years she went on to work as a music composer and producer for commercial film and television. Additionally, she curated music as the music director of a large contemporary arts festival for four consecutive years until 2018, when she moved to the U.S. She currently lives in Austin, Texas.
